Understanding the Truth of Suffering | Die Wahrheit des Schmerzes Verstehen

"Understanding suffering is very important. The practice of meditation is designed not to develop pleasure but to understand the truth of suffering; and in order to understand the truth of suffering, one also has to understand the truth of awareness. When true awareness takes place, suffering does not exist. Through awareness, suffering is somewhat changed in its perspective. It is not necessarily that you do not suffer, but the haunting quality that fundamentally you are in trouble is removed. It is like removing a splinter. It might hurt, and you might still feel pain, but the basic cause of that pain, the ego, has been removed."

"You take refuge in the Buddha not as a savior - not with the feeling that you found something to make you secure - but as an example, as someone you can emulate. He is an example of an ordinary human being who saw through the deceptions of life, both on the ordinary and spiritual levels."

Taming the Mind | Den Geist Zähmen

"The Buddhist path begins with taming the mind. Taming the mind is very straightforward: you just relate with things as they are. You don't try to stock up. You don't collect more weapons in case you might need to defend yourself, or more food so that if you run out, you would have something to live on. You are not making sure that if you are kicked out of one organization, you have another organization to join. Trying to stock up and to make sure that there is some kind of security is the opposite of taming: it is aggression."

* Anm. d.

Opening Ourselves to the World | Uns Selbst der Welt Öffnen

"We cannot change the way the world is, but by opening ourselves to the world as it is, we may find that gentleness, decency, and bravery are available - not only to us, but to all human beings."

Respekt and Acknowledge | Respektiere und Erkenne An

"Therefore the thing is not to battle anymore, not to try and sort out the bad things and only achieve good, but respect them and acknowledge them."

You Could Do a Lot for Humankind | Ihr Könntet eine Menge für die Menschheit Tun

"Let's not complain about the past; it is such a waste of energy. You could do a lot of things for humankind if you could come out and be precise. Let us face the world without wearing sunglasses. Take off your glasses and perceive the light … You can do so much, not only for yourself but for others. You could contribute so much help and service to people who are suffering, who are trapped in all kinds of problems."

When You Are Completely Mindful | Wenn Du Vollkommen Achtsam Bist

"When you are completely mindful in the present moment, mind and body are synchronized. Here, synchronizing mind and body is connected with developing fearlessness, in the sense of being accurate and direct in relating to the phenomenal world."
